Current Students


The Liberal Arts Academic Support Center now has 15 Academic Support Coordinators (ASC) to assist students in all majors in the College of Liberal Arts. Please call (970) 491-3117 or stop by Clark C207 for an appointment and an office staff member will schedule an appointment for you with the ASC that best meets your needs.

ASCs do:

  • Act as your advisor for academic guidance
  • Help you connect with resources across campus to help you succeed in college
  • Help you understand your undergraduate degree plan and help you plan out the rest of your undergraduate education
  • Advise you if you are struggling with classes or professors
  • Inform you of activities and events related to your major
  • Facilitate connections with your major department

Myths about ASCs:

  • They can override students into classes (instructor/department)
  • They can fix registration system problems- Registrar's Office
  • They can evaluate transfer/study abroad classes- Transfer Evaluation Office
  • They have to approve students schedule or adding/dropping of courses
  • They have lists of open/closed courses
  • They are also career counselors- Career Center
  • They have to approve a change of major to another department/college
  • They sign repeat/delete forms- Registrar's Office
  • They fill out four year academic plans (student)
  • They add/advise for minors- Minor Checksheet


  • Call ahead to schedule an appointment
  • Come on time and prepared for appointment with questions, list of classes you are interested in, etc.
  • Register, add, drop classes using Ram Web- Ram Web Tutorials
  • Know your major/minor requirements by being able to read check sheet or Degree Audit (DARS)-Ram Web Tutorial
  • Find registration access dates on RamWeb home page
  • Familiarize yourself with University rules, policies and procedures
  • Be aware of important dates and deadlines available on the Registrar's website- List of Important Dates
  • Allow sufficient time (at least 2 weeks) when requesting letters of reference
  • Prepare 4 year academic plan and review it with ASC
