Boost Scholarship Program

Boost your ability to succeed as a major within the College of Liberal Arts!

Our college offers a specific program to support first year and transfer students in their first academic year at CSU. Students complete activities proven to help them feel connected and succeed both in and outside the classroom, with a promise of a $500 scholarship upon completion.

First-Year Program

For students who have never attended college after high school, our first-year program involves completing a two-semester guide of activities that include:

  • Participation in Vida, the College of Liberal Arts learning community. Most of the other activities outlined below are a part of Vida. In order to learn more about Vida, including how to apply, visit the learning community's website.
  • Take IU 174 B with other participants in this program. This is a small class where you can develop friendships and build confidence about navigating college life.
  • Participate in a micro-internship, research activity, or volunteer work. Gain critical skills to build a strong resume using proven methods of completing a research activity, participating in volunteer work, or completing a short, project-based micro-internship.
  • Participate in workshops on how to engage with others on campus, tips for good mental health wellbeing, career counseling, and how to negotiate challenges both in and out of the classroom.
  • Create a customized graduation plan that aligns with your interests and incorporates career information.

Recipients of the first year Boost Scholarship will receive priority for acceptance into Vida: the College of Liberal Arts learning community! The majority of the activities listed above are a part of the Vida program.

At the end of each semester in your first year, you will receive a $250 scholarship, for a total amount of $500.
